Kate Shapland’s Beauty Diary.
July 25th: Down to Brighton last week to visit one of my favourite beauty salons, The Treatment Rooms: ladies of the south coast, if you haven’t discovered Clare Rogers’ oasis in New Road yet I urge you to do so!
Somehow (can’t think how!) I was persuaded to try Aromatherapy Associates Cellulite Reducer, a wake-up treatment for thighs, bums and tums and general system sluggishness. It involves being rubbed with with warm and cold (very cold) mitts, then massaged with cleansing aromatic oils like grapefruit, juniper berry and rosemary – which help to eke out trapped fluids making you feel less puffy, then wrapped up in a cocooon to absorb the oils. The treatment is so invigorating you feel like leaping up off the couch at the end of it – and you feel considerably slimmer and more confident to boost. Ready, even, to don a swimsuit. And that’s a minor miracle in my book. I also met Julieanne Coates, owner of ‘the other’ Brighton beauty salon, The Lanes Health & Beauty Salon in Market Street. Julie specialises in nails – the whole of the ground floor of her salon is a nail bar in the style of Hollywood, complete with massaging pedi chairs! Over to you ladies ..
